"As a grassroots representative from the countryside, I am full of expectations and confidence for the future of rural vitalization, and I believe that the countryside will be more promising for young people," said Lin Lulu, a new Fujian Provincial People's Congress deputy, in an interview with jsen.com during the ongoing session of the 14th Fujian Provincial People's Congress.

Lin, who was born after 1990, is head of Longxiang's village committee, which is located in Yongtai county, Fujian province. She returned to improve her hometown after graduating from the Concord College of Fujian Normal University in 2015.

After eight years of efforts with a focus on developing characteristic industries and implementing the integrated development of primary, secondary, and tertiary industries, Lin has transformed her village into a provincial-level beautiful demonstration village, Fujian's first safe demonstration village, and a demonstration village for rural vitalization in Yongtai county.

She said that the provincial government work report focuses on improving the cultivation mechanism of local talents, guiding the return of all kinds of talents, and improving the literacy of farmers. Now she is thinking about how to attract talents back to rural areas.

Lin said that in her village, for example, there are already conditions to attract young people to return to their hometowns to start businesses, but how to retain them for a long time still requires policy support, such as providing a convenient living infrastructure, and offering corresponding entrepreneurship and employment guarantees.

In addition, it is necessary to give more training opportunities to rural grassroots cadres, improve their comprehensive quality, and give full play to their role as the backbone of promoting rural vitalization, she added.
