Newly-released county economic data from East China's Fujian province shows remarkable achievements across several counties.

In 2023, Jiaocheng district in Ningde achieved the highest economic growth rate in the province, with its per capita GDP surpassing 200,000 yuan ($27828.5) for the first time. The lithium battery and new energy industrial chain in Jiaocheng district reached a regional gross production value of 134.01 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 10.4 percent.

In addition to Jiaocheng district, other counties in Ningde, such as Fuan city and Fuding city, two county-level cities, have made significant strides, with Fuan city becoming the country's largest single stainless steel production and deep processing base. Over the years, Ningde has attracted numerous enterprises, leading to the development of internationally-competitive industrial landmarks in lithium-ion new energy, new energy vehicles, stainless steel new materials, and copper materials.

This exemplifies how Fujian's advantageous industries form interconnected clusters, driving high-quality economic development in its counties.

In 2023, Jinjiang's GDP reached 336.35 billion yuan, ranking first among counties in the country in terms of growth rate.

Haicang district of Xiamen is working towards establishing a "3+1+1" new industrial system, focusing on biomedicine, integrated circuits, and new materials. The gross output value of all above designated size industrial enterprises in 2023 reached 187 billion yuan, accounting for 23.1 percent of Xiamen's total.

Changle district in Fuzhou achieved a gross value of industrial output of 162.9 billion yuan last year, ranking first among industrial clusters in the Chinese textile industry.

This year's report on the work of the people's government of Fujian province emphasizes accelerating the development of key industrial chains in counties and formulating special policies and assessment systems to guide each county in strengthening 1-2 key industrial chains. Fujian aims to further bolster its county economy and expedite industrial transformation and upgrading, providing vital support for the comprehensive advancement of high-quality economic and social development in the province.
