During the second session of the 14th National People's Congress, Zhong Jun, an NPC deputy from Fujian and chairman of Fujian Big Data Group, emphasized the importance of digitalization in strengthening collaboration between the eastern and western regions.

Developing the digital economy is a strategic decision to seize new opportunities amid ongoing technological revolution and industrial transformation. It is an important force for promoting common prosperity and plays a vital role in deepening collaboration between the eastern and western regions, ultimately promoting coordinated regional development.

Zhong highlighted the need to recognize the effectiveness of channeling more computing resources from the eastern areas to the less developed western regions for high-quality development. He stressed that digitalization is important for collaboration between the eastern and western regions, contributing to the realization of Chinese-style modernization.

Zhong proposed the following:

1. Deepening collaboration between the eastern and western regions in building digital governments. The construction of digital governments should be considered crucial to promoting digital cooperation between the two regions.

2. Deepening collaboration between the eastern and western regions in the digital industrial chain. Recognizing that computing power has become the driver of the development of the digital economy, it is essential to construct a nationally integrated computing power network to support economic development in the western regions.

3. Deepening collaboration between the eastern and western regions in cultivating digital talent. This involves strengthening the collaboration and exchange of digital talent between the two regions and training a large number of versatile talent teams. Additionally, Zhong suggested supporting Fujian in establishing digital talent training and practical training bases tailored to western regions, considering Fujian's role as the starting point for digital development in China.
