Fujian extends global invitation to grand cultural and tourism event

The 2024 Fujian Provincial Conference on the Development of Cultural and Tourism Economy, themed "Creating a world-renowned tourism destination", will take place in Quanzhou from April 17 to 19. The conference will showcase a series of cultural and tourism activities, promoting its "Refreshing Fujian: Starting Point of Maritime Silk Road" brand to the world.

The event will feature six key activities including an opening ceremony and a conference on the development of cultural and tourism economy, as well as four main supporting events such as a world heritage research and a tourism high-quality development seminar.

Quanzhou, as the host city, boasts 22 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. During the conference, representatives will introduce the city's cultural relic trails and five world heritage boutique study routes. Additionally, a series of events will explore the customs of the World Heritage Sites, showcase the extraordinary charm of intangible cultural heritage preservation and development, and present hundreds of time-honored foods.

In recent years, Fujian has been actively working to establish itself as a world-renowned tourism destination, and the international influence of its "Refreshing Fujian: Starting Point of Maritime Silk Road" brand has continued to strengthen during that time. In 2023, the province received a total of 572 million tourists, generating a tourism revenue of 698.1 billion yuan ($96.44 billion).
