MSR port city tour kicks off in Fujian
A promotional event that will tour port cities along the Maritime Silk Road was officially launched at the Haitian Terminal in Xiamen on Aug 6.
Ports play a crucial role in global trade, facilitating the export of goods like tea, porcelain, cars, and lithium batteries and showcasing the wisdom of Fujian people on the world stage.
In recent years, Fujian has made substantial progress in the development of port infrastructure, bolstering the demonstration zone for cross-Strait integration and high-level opening up in Fujian.
In 2023, Fujian's ports handled 750 million tons of cargo, with Xiamen Port ranking 13th globally in container throughput and Fuzhou Port ranking 17th in cargo throughput.
As strategic hubs supporting the new dual-cycle development pattern and critical infrastructure for developing a modern industrial system, ports are essential for the smooth operation of the supply chain and industrial economy and are closely intertwined with people's daily lives. The port industry drives growth in the marine, digital, green, and cultural tourism economies, aligning with current economic trends.
After the launch, a media tour group will embark on a four-day journey, exploring Xiamen, Quanzhou, Putian, Pingtan, Ningde, and others, focusing on six main themes, such as new quality productive forces, during a deep sea-viewing experience.
