Remembering the Stories of Kuliang: In Search of "Friends of Kuliang"
Kuliang, located in Southeast China, is a scenic and tranquil summer retreat. Beginning in the 1880s, large numbers of expatriates from over 20 countries came to Kuliang to escape the summer heat. They built villas, hospitals, tennis courts, and other facilities, forming deep bonds with local residents and creating a rich legacy of cross-cultural connection.
"Friends of Kuliang" such as Elyn MacInnis and Lee Gardner have actively carried on the story of Kuliang, helping keep its spirit alive. Today, the "Friends of Kuliang" community continues to grow, becoming an important force in fostering people-to-people friendship. To uncover more hidden and precious stories of Kuliang — and to reconnect with "Friends of Kuliang" around the world, especially in Europe, who have yet to join this big family — we warmly invite you to take part in this call for submissions. Let us join hands and continue the legacy of friendship that has spanned more than a century.
