E-commerce platform Jumia lands in Jinjiang to tap Africa market
A signing ceremony was recently held for the establishment of African cross-border e-commerce platform Jumia's first operations center in East China's Fujian province, to be located in Jinjiang, a county-level city in Quanzhou.
Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, Jumia is Africa's largest cross-border e-commerce platform, operating in multiple African countries, including Nigeria, Egypt and Kenya.
According to Tom Hurier, general manager of Jumia Global, there are three key reasons for choosing Jinjiang: its diversified industrial clusters producing premium-quality goods, the concentration of major corporations and cross-border e-commerce operators, and most notably, the exceptional work ethic that characterizes the local workforce.
Hurier said he believed Africa would be a very promising market for Jinjiang.
Many Jinjiang business enterprises said they want to leverage the Jumia platform to promote more high-quality Jinjiang products in Africa and globally.
Chen Jiada, head of the Jinjiang cross-border e-commerce public service center, said there is much to be upbeat about and there were great opportunities ahead.
"In the future, we will delve into Jinjiang's distinctive industrial belts, conduct targeted analyses of the city's advantageous products like footwear and food, align them with the market characteristics of different African countries and precisely match suitable products to further expand into the African market," Chen added.
