The sixth Cross-Strait Hakka Mid-Autumn Festival Gala took place on Sept 28 in Longyan, Fujian, an important ancestral home for the Hakka people. The cultural event attracted participants from Taiwan, Guangdong's Meizhou, Jiangxi's Ganzhou, and nearly a thousand local people.

The gala centered on the roots of Hakka culture and the theme of Mid-Autumn reunion, unfolding in three chapters: "Hakka culture", "cross-Strait affection", and "building dreams together".

Hakka art groups from Fujian, Guangdong, Jiangxi, and Taiwan collaborated to narrate the event. These chapters traced the shared origins of Hakka culture, highlighted the deep ties between cross-Strait Hakka communities, and culminated in a shared vision for the future. This narrative beautifully embodied the core theme of "Hakka people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait uniting with one heart".

Mr Jiang, a Hakka singer from Taiwan, expressed his amazement at performing the song We are heart to heart alongside artists from Longyan, Meizhou, and Ganzhou. "We come from different places, yet we can perform the same song in our shared dialect. This is our common 'cultural DNA' as Hakka people," Jiang said.

The gala concluded with the song We Are One Family, uniting all performers on stage in a celebration of reunion. As exchanges and cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan's Hakka regions deepen, Longyan is becoming a crucial cross-Strait link.
