The 8th Xiamen University "Yijing Cup" Chinese Classics Translation Competition concluded on Oct 22, with an awards ceremony and exhibition of outstanding works. This year's competition attracted participants from universities nationwide, resulting in four first-place winners, 10 second-place winners, and 18 third-place winners. A total of 32 students from 12 universities, including Peking University, Nanjing University, and Xiamen University, received awards.

This year's competition was closely aligned with the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the 75th anniversary of the CPV's participation in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-53).

Participants translated a classic interpretation by Chen Chun, a renowned Neo-Confucianist from the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), of the saying: "Our ancestors told us that as heaven maintains vigor through movement, a gentleman should constantly strive for self-perfection". This task aimed to inspire students with the Chinese nation's enduring spirit of resistance against aggression and Xiamen University's motto, "Pursue excellence, strive for perfection".

Over the past eight years, the "Yijing Cup" has evolved into a culturally rich event, now encompassing multiple languages, including English, French, Russian, and Japanese.

It has become a prominent platform for students passionate about Chinese classics and translation to exchange ideas and showcase their work. The competition continues to expand its influence in cultural dissemination through innovative themes and formats.
