The China Film Music Exhibition Hall, the nation's first thematic gallery dedicated to cinematic scores, officially opened on the historic island of Gulangyu in Xiamen, Fujian province, on May 8.

Housed within the former US Consulate — a 1929 landmark and a vital component of the UNESCO World Heritage site — the hall's debut follows an extensive restoration and revitalization project.

Jointly established by the Gulangyu Scenic Area Administrative Committee and the China Film Archive, the exhibition hall converges a century of iconic Chinese melodies on the "Island of Music".
