The United Nations featured a 13-minute video interview with Xiamen Airlines titled "On-Site Observation: When Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Soar" on its global homepage and official Weibo account on June 5 for World Environment Day.

The video, presented from a UN news officer's perspective, highlights Xiamen Airlines' dedication to sustainability, including low-carbon flights, eco-friendly catering supply chains, and green initiatives.

It begins with the officer boarding the "United Dream" aircraft, showcasing the airline's use of lightweight bamboo pulp tissues, eco-friendly meal boxes and utensils, and lightweight meal carts to reduce carbon emissions. The officer also noted the airline's biodegradable packaging and in-flight magazines printed on bamboo pulp paper, reflecting a commitment to minimizing plastic waste.

Beyond the cabin, the officer explored Xiamen Airlines' catering facilities, observing its green supply chain that includes agricultural cultivation, green transportation, and meal preparation. The visit also included stops at the airline's sustainable development area, the "Better Life" livestream studio, and the "Little Galley Coffee" shop on Gulangyu Island.

In an interview, Xiamen Airlines Chairman Zhao Dong emphasized the airline's decade-long collaboration with the UN, with a focus on advancing the UN's SDGs. The airline has replaced plastic with bamboo, promotes energy conservation, advocates for lightweight travel, and builds a green value chain from farm to cabin, positioning itself as a leader in sustainable practices.

Xiamen Airlines became the first airline to sign a sustainable development cooperation agreement with the UN in 2017, before introducing the "United Dream" aircraft in 2018, the only UN-authorized SDGs-themed plane, to promote sustainability globally.

The airline plans to keep green transformation as a strategic focus for high-quality development and deepen cooperation with the UN on sustainable development goals, striving to be a leading example in sustainable aviation.
