The From Hokkien to Nanyang documentary series has released its first episode, Seeking Kin in Taiping. Funded by Xiamen's Haicang district cultural development project, the episode follows the protagonist's journey from his hometown to Taiping, Malaysia, in search of his great-uncle, from whom he was separated 33 years ago. The story highlights the qiaopi, the overseas Chinese remittance letters, carrying messages of longing and connection across decades.
